Triple-A Norfolk
The Tides were idle most of this week because of the Triple-A All-Star Game, and their lone representative, catcher Audry Perez, went 0-for-1 with a strikeout off the bench for the International League squad. Perez has been in a funk of late, batting .184 (7-for-38) in 10 games leading up to the break, sinking his average to .287.
Double-A Bowie
Catcher Chance Sisco, who homered in the All-Star Futures Game Sunday night, went 0-for-2 in the Eastern League All-Star Game on Wednesday, while infielder Garabez Rosa homered for his only hit in four at-bats. Left-hander Donnie Hart, who joined the Orioles on Friday, and left-hander Jayson Aquino both did not pitch. Aquino started Sunday after returning from a stint in the Orioles bullpen.
High-A Frederick
Outfielder DJ Stewart has taken well to his promotion from Low-A Delmarva, batting .306/421/.500 with a pair of home runs and six doubles in 18 Carolina League games. Stewart, the Orioles' first-round pick in 2015 who struggled in the South Atlantic League, entered Friday riding an eight-game hitting streak, with both home runs coming last week.
Low-A Delmarva
Venezuelan right-hander Christian Alvarado, 21, leads the South Atlantic League in strikeouts with 104 in 91 innings. He is 7-5 with a 3.66 ERA in 17 starts this season, while fellow international signee Ofelky Peralta followed up five hitless innings last week with five innings of four-hit, four-run ball Thursday. Peralta, a 19-year-old Dominican, has a 3.68 ERA with 80 strikeouts in 80 2/3 innings.
Gulf Coast League
In the Gulf Coast League, 2015 eighth-round pick Seamus Curran is off to a good start. The first baseman from Massachusetts is batting .321 with 15 RBIs in 17 games, with three doubles and a triple. Shortstop Alexis Torres, drafted in the fifth round this year out of Puerto Rico, is off to a slower start, batting .097 in 32 at-bats.
