Player introductions begin at 5:15: Predictably, biggest ovations for Buck Showalter, Nick Markakis, Adam Jones and Nelson Cruz.
First ball ceremony: Interesting first ball ceremony. Manny Machado, who was lost for the season with a knee injury in August, throws ceremonial first pitch to Matt Wieters, who missed five months of the season with an elbow injury.
National Anthem: Rolando Sanz delivers terrific rendition. Shockingly, fans shout "O!" at just the right moment. The sellout crowd follows with deafening roar while creating undulating sea of orange by waving free "Welcome to October" towels.
Gametime: Orioles take the field at 5:36. Gametime temperature is 70 degrees.
First pitch: Chris Tillman delivers first pitch to Tigers leadoff hitter Ian Kinsler at 5:39. It's a ball. Six pitches later, Kinsler strikes out swinging for first out of game. Tillman goes on to strike out side, getting Miguel Cabrera with a 96 mph fastball that elicits a huge roar as Orioles leave field.
Key Tigers at-bat: Kinsler works Tillman for 14-pitch at-bat in third inning before hitting broken-bat liner to third. Kinsler single-handedly hastened Tillman's exit from the game by making him throw 30 pitches in his first three at-bats.
First relief pitcher: Left-hander Andrew Miller comes on to replace Tillman, who lasted five innings and threw 105 pitches, and pitches scoreless sixth.
First blowout inning: The Orioles scored eight runs in the eighth inning to suck the suspense out of the room after Miller, Darren O'Day and Zach Britton carried a slim lead through the eighth.
