Hunter Harvey recalled from Double-A Bowie
The Orioles recalled their top pitching prospect, right-hander Hunter Harvey, from Double-A Bowie Monday and sent left-hander Tanner Scott to Triple-A Norfolk. The Orioles had another extra-inning game Sunday, with Scott pitching 1 2/3 innings and giving up one run against the Yankees. The bullpen had to pitch 11 1/3 innings Sunday, so Harvey is needed to replenish the staff.
What to watch
1. Early ace. Dylan Bundy stays on turn in the series opener against the Blue Jays with Alex Cobb needing more time to get ready. Bundy has been exceptional out of the gate with one earned run in 13 innings against two playoff teams from a year ago.
2. Upstart club from the north. The Blue Jays have been one of the early surprises, coming in with six wins in eight games after splitting an opening series with the Yankees and then earning series wins over the White Sox and Rangers. They've done it with a high-scoring offense that ranks third in the American League in runs.
3. Keep it going. The Orioles took three of four at Yankee Stadium with two impressive extra-inning wins deciding the series. That's an encouraging sign because when this team has been at its best since 2012, two of the hallmarks have been close wins and owning extra innings. They're off to a solid start in that department and have a chance to climb the AL East standings over the next three days.
