What to watch

1. Western woes. The Orioles have long struggled on the West Coast, having not had a winning trip on the opposite side of the country since 2014. They went 4-6 out west last year and 9-10 in 2016, but have had slightly more success at Angel Stadium. The Orioles and Angels have alternated series wins and losses the past four seasons, with the Orioles winning in 2016 and 2014.

2. Will the real Alex Cobb ... The Orioles have to hope that Alex Cobb's lack-of-spring-training slump is coming to a close after he showed signs of improvement his most recent time out. The right-hander held the Tampa Bay Rays to one run through four innings before being on the wrong end of a four-run fifth. Cobb is allowing nearly three base runners per inning as opponents are hitting .484 against him through three starts.

3. El Toro. Pedro Álvarez had quite a weekend, leading the Orioles to their series win over the Detroit Tigers with two-homer games in his only starts of the series, Friday and Sunday. He has six home runs and 13 RBIs in just 70 plate appearances after hitting four homers in his past seven at-bats.
