Triple-A Norfolk
Reliever Steve Johnson is one of the few arms in Norfolk not to get a look so far in 2015, but he's pitching like he's ready for one. Johnson bounced back from a four-run, four-walk outing May 29 with two scoreless innings of relief Wednesday. Johnson is 2-1 with a 3.67 ERA in 16 appearances (27 innings) with 37 strikeouts and 11 walks.
Double-A Bowie
Left-hander Tim Berry, who is in his second season in the Eastern League, is in the middle of his best stretch this season. He has allowed two runs in 12 2/3 innings over his last two starts, and during that stretch, Berry lowered his ERA from 7.66 to 6.28. His victory Thursday over New Hampshire was his first in 11 starts this season.
High-A Frederick
Before he was promoted to Double-A Bowie on Thursday, first baseman Trey Mancini was among the Carolina League's hottest hitters in May. Mancini led the league with a .362 average for the month, and was batting .314 with eight home runs, 14 doubles, and 32 RBIs in 52 games at the time he was moved to the Baysox.
Low-A Delmarva
Left-hander John Means turned in his second straight quality start Thursday, allowing two runs on five hits in six innings with five strikeouts, his most since May 6. It was his fourth quality start of the season. Means, selected in the 11th round of the 2014 draft, is 4-2 with a 4.20 ERA in 10 starts with the Shorebirds.
