Orioles pull off consecutive homer hat trick

The Orioles didn’t waste any time getting after Detroit Tigers pitcher Anibal Sanchez on Sunday afternoon at Camden Yards.

Sanchez got the first out in the bottom of the first inning, but Manny Machado singled and the O’s did something they had not done before this season.

Jonathan Schoop hammered his 25th homer of the season to give his team a two-run lead and Chris Davis followed three pitches later with a towering home run to center. If that wasn’t dynamic enough, Trey Mancini made it a hat trick with his 18th homer of the year.

It was the first time the O’s had gone back-to-back-to-back since Aug. 19, when Machado, Davis and Mark Trumbo did so against the Houston Astros.

Schoop, by the way, took over the American League RBI lead with that home run. He now has 82.
