Outfielder Ryan McKenna earns back-to-back Orioles Minor League Player of the Month honors

In the fog of this season, there’s light in Bowie.

The Orioles named outfielder Ryan McKenna of the Bowie Baysox as their Minor League Player of the Month for June on Monday.

Seems like deja vu? It’s been about 30 days since they did exactly the same thing in May.

In June, McKenna’s bat cooled down a little, lowering from a .436/.509/.644 line to .338/.466/.535, with three home runs and eight runs driven in. Part of that may have come with an increase in pressure — his sizzling bat earned him an ascension from Frederick to Double-A Bowie.

Before his arrival in the Eastern League, McKenna went 1-for-2 as a centerfielder in the Carolina League All-Star game on June 19.

A fourth-round pick in 2015 out of St. Thomas Aquinas High in New Hampshire, McKenna has 107 hits, 16 doubles and nine home runs at Frederick and Bowie this season.
