Machado misses game with illness

The illness that has swept through the Orioles’ clubhouse has knocked shortstop Manny Machado out of the lineup against the Red Sox, who are a half-game behind the Yankees in the AL East. It also gives the Orioles and their fans a chance to see what life is like without Machado in the lineup.

What to watch

1. Forget. The Orioles will be looking to move on from their four-game sweep at the hands of the Blue Jays, especially Sunday’s ugly 13-3 loss. The good thing is ...

2. Bundy is on the mound. Dylan Bundy has gotten his business in order with a 2.57 ERA over his past five starts, making this his second quality stretch of this many outings this season. He has struck out 40 in 35 innings in going 3-2 since his awful three-start rut from April 26 to May 8.

3. Wright. The Red Sox send out knuckleballer Steven Wright, who is looking closer to his 2016 All-Star form after missing most of last year because of knee surgery. Wright was just put into the rotation June 5, and he pitched a gem — seven scoreless innings, two hits allowed, six strikeouts and three walks.
