Phillip Supernaw added to Ravens' active roster

With rookie Crockett Gillmore dealing with a back injury, the Ravens have promoted tight end Phillip Supernaw from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.

Supernaw takes the roster spot that became open yesterday when defensive tackle Haloti Ngata was suspended four games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

Supernaw, who has had several stints with the Ravens this season, re-joined the organization on Wednesday. He had spent the previous three weeks on the Kansas City Chiefs' active roster.

Supernaw has played in five combined games this season for the Ravens and Chiefs and has two catches for one yard.

Gillmore, who has been mostly used as the No. 2 blocking tight end behind Owen Daniels, was limited in Wednesday's practice because of a back injury and he didn't practice at all Thursday.

If Supernaw is active Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, he'll likely be used primarily as a blocker.
