The Orioles switched their lineup after batting practice, scratching designated hitter and eighth batter Chris Dickerson. He was replaced with Nolan Reimold, who will bat ninth Wednesday against the Texas Rangers.
Brian Roberts was moved up from ninth to eighth.
Less than an hour before game time, the Orioles have not given a reason for why Dickerson was scratched.
Some other notes:
Lefty Zach Britton, who started Tuesday, and Kevin Gausman, who followed Britton in relief, were sent down to Triple-A together after last night's loss to the Texas Rangers. They will share a workday at Norfolk and then both pitch in the Tides' final game before the break on Sunday.
Both would be available to return to the Orioles, if needed, on Saturday, July 20 in Texas.
Showalter said the plan is to keep Gausman as a starter in the future, but moving him to the bullpen this month in the major leagues was a good experience for last year's top pick.

"(Gausman) has got a chance to be a quality major league pitcher. And we all hope it's as a starter one day. The only unknown (from his bullpen stint) that I really didn't get a feel for and didn't want to was back-to-back (outings)," Showalter said. "I don't want to create something bad from something good. I think being in the bullpen was good for him, as he's talked to us about. He could come back to us in other ways ... He could certainly benefit from getting on a schedule down there, too."
Lefty Tsuyoshi Wada was not really a consideration to come up Wednesday to give the Orioles length in the bullpen. At this point, Wada, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery last year, is really viewed as a starter only.
In his professional career, Wada has pitched in relief just twice in 176 games -- both in 2009 with the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks in Japan.
"That's not a consideration at this point," Showalter said. "I'd probably have to have some conversations, we would, with those guys (Norfolk management). You ask how (pitchers) respond on their work day? How they feel the next day? How long does it take them to start a game? Is it something he has ever done in the past? There's a lot of questions you'd have to answer and I got a suspicion it probably won't be favorable responses to someone who can pitch in the bullpen. But I could be wrong."
Outfielder Steve Pearce, who is on the 15-day disabled list with left wrist tendinitis, had a MRA dye injection in the wrist on Wednesday in Sarasota. Hand specialist Brian Schofield, who has worked with Nick Markakis, among others, did the procedure to see if there is any structural damage.
Infield prospect Jonathan Schoop, who is recovering from a stress fracture in his back, will play his first game in the minors since May 12 on Thursday for the Gulf Coast League Orioles. He'll probably play there for at least a week or so.
The Texas Rangers have placed Thursday's originally scheduled starter Yu Darvish on the disabled list because of trapezius fatigue. Either former Orioles farmhand Ross Wolf or minor leaguer Neil Ramirez, a Kempsville, Va., native, will make the start.
