C.J. Mosley shot through a gap in the New Orleans Saints' offensive line, leveling quarterback Drew Brees on an inside blitz.
It was the first sack of the rookie inside linebackers's NFL career and was one of the first-round draft pick's two quarterback hits Monday night during a 34-27 win over the Saints at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
"It's a great stage to do it on Monday Night Football, so I feel blessed to be put in that position," Mosley said. "Hopefully, I get a few more before the season is over with."
A top candidate for NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, Mosley leads the Ravens with 96 tackles and hash two interceptions, seven pass deflections, one fumble recovery and a forced fumble.
The Ravens are starting to use Mosley more on blitzes, which takes advantage of the former consensus All-American's speed and instincts.
"It gives me a chance to be aggressive," said Mosley, a Butkus Award winner from Alabama. "I don't have as much to worry about, especially when I have Daryl Smith behind me when I'm on a blitz.
"It's just part of our scheme for me to blitz off the edge or up the middle. Whenever my number is called, I try to do my best."
