The Baltimore Sun is breaking down where the Ravens stand at each position, including predictions on how many players the team will keep at each spot and which players are locks, long shots or "on the bubble."
RUNNING BACKS
How many they'll keep: 4
Locks if healthy: Justin Forsett, Lorenzo Taliaferro, Buck Allen, Kyle Juszczyk (fullback)
On the bubble: Fitzgerald Toussaint
Long shots: Terrence Magee, Kiero Small (fullback)
Skinny: The biggest question is not how many running backs the Ravens take, but who wins the competition between Taliaferro and Allen — fourth-round NFL draft picks the past two years — to become Forsett's primary backup. Taliaferro, who looks much leaner and quicker than he did last year, has the early edge, but Allen has the type of receiving skills out of the backfield that offensive coordinator Marc Trestman loves. The Ravens have started with four backs in six of head coach John Harbaugh's seven seasons, so that figures to be the way they go again this year. However, Toussaint, who earned spot duty behind Forsett last season, has plenty of support within the organization and it would be foolish to dismiss his chances. Toussaint had a strong preseason last year. Magee also impressed in OTAs.
