The final determination on Stefon Diggs' status will not be made until after Maryland coach Randy Edsall meets with team doctors.
However, Edsall did not rule out the possibility of the injured junior wide receiver returning to practice this week and possibly playing in Maryland's upcoming game against Michigan.
Diggs practicing "will be determined as we go forward this week," Edsall said. "I have not met with our doctors or trainers. We don't practice until Tuesday, so we'll find out where we are on Tuesday in regards to if he'll be able to practice or not practice."
Diggs, who was suspended for Saturday's loss to Michigan State, suffered a lacerated kidney during the Terps' win over Penn State on Nov. 1.
"We'll see how things go this week and go from there," Edsall said. "He's eligible to play this week, so we'll see how the week goes and see where we are."
Diggs is second in the Big Ten with 5.8 catches per game, fifth with 72.7 receiving yards per game, and he leads Maryland with five receiving touchdowns.
Without Diggs against Michigan State, the Terps had just seven points through three-plus quarters, and Maryland quarterback C.J. Brown started the game by completing only 12 of 31 passes with one touchdown and three interceptions.
"Stefon is a good player, and he's someone that has a tremendous passion for the game," Edsall said. "He's a guy that has the ability to make plays. Would he have been able to make some plays in that game [against Michigan State]? You would think so.
"But he wasn't out there, so you can't worry about it."
