It's not a Prediction Friday, it's a Playoff Thursday. And that's even better.
I don't really consider The Baltimore Sun baseball writers to be homers, but we sure do smell like that today. (Or maybe it's the cheap beer that spilled on the floor.)
Ed Encina is predicting that the Orioles win the American League Division Series in five games and that they capture Thursday's opener against the Detroit Tigers at Camden Yards, 4-3.
I also have the Orioles in five games. My score for Thursday is 3-1 – yes, Chris Tillman out-duels Max Scherzer (for good measure, I say Nelson Cruz has a two-run homer and Steve Pearce hits a solo shot while Victor Martinez has Detroit's lone RBI).
Pete Schmuck thinks the Orioles win the series in four. He also gives them Thursday's game – by a score of 4-2.
For the sake of balance, I asked my friend and fantastic baseball writer John Lowe of the Detroit Free Press what he thinks. He's too smart to pick an individual score, but he has the Tigers winning in five games.
