Lovelocke was invited as a throwing quarterback along with Southeastern Louisiana quarterback Bryan Bennett and East Carolina quarterback Shane Carden, meaning he'll throw passes for the players in drills. Lovelocke also will take part in the testing and interviews. Lovelocke will remain at the combine after the other quarterbacks leave Indianapolis and continue throwing to all of the other position players.

Atlanta Falcons quarterback T.J. Yates, a fifth-round draft pick of the Houston Texans in 2011, once was invited to the combine as a throwing quarterback.

Lovelocke is a 6-foot-5, 200-pound four-year starter who passed for 39 touchdowns and 18 interceptions over the past two seasons. He also rushed for 19 touchdowns during that span and played in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.

Other local players invited to the NFL scouting combine include: Maryland wide receivers Stefon Diggs (Good Counsel) and Deon Long and outside linebacker Yannik Cudjoe-Virgil (Towson High), Wisconsin offensive tackle Rob Havenstein (Linganore), Alabama offensive guard Arie Kouandijo (DeMatha Catholic), Penn State offensive tackle Donovan Smith (Owings Mills), Penn State safety Adrian Amos (Calvert Hall), Wake Forest cornerback Kevin Johnson (River Hill), Towson cornerback Tye Smith and defensive end-outside linebacker Ryan Delaire, and Navy long snapper Joe Cardona.
