The Orioles made a minor-league deal Wednesday, acquiring first baseman-designated hitter Mike McDade from the Texas Rangers for future considerations.
McDade, 25, has been assigned to Double-A Bowie. A former sixth-round draft pick of the Toronto Blue Jays in 2007, McDade has reached Triple-A for three different organizations: The Blue Jays, the Chicago White Sox and the Cleveland Indians. He signed a minor league deal with the Rangers in January.
The switch-hitter has never made the majors. In parts of eight minor league seasons, he is a career .261 hitter with 93 home runs.
The Dallas Morning News first reported the deal.
