The San Francisco Giants made sure this announcement arrived with little drama.

The Orioles will play Game 2 of the American League Division Series against the Detroit Tigers at Camden Yards at 12:07 p.m. on Friday, less than 19 hours after they are scheduled to begin Game 1 at 5:37 p.m. on Thursday.

The Birds earned the earlier timeslot -- 3:07 p.m. was also an option -- because the Giants defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates, 8-0, on Wednesday night in the National League Wild Card Game. Had Pittsburgh won, the Orioles would have played Game 2 at 3:07.

Game 3 of the ALDS, in Detroit, is still on for Sunday at 3:45 p.m.

Now speculation can turn in full to how manager Buck Showalter will fill out his ALDS roster, including who the Game 2 starting pitcher will be for the O's.

It's about time to play ball.
