The Orioles tendered contracts to eight of their 12 arbitration-eligible players prior to Wednesday's midnight deadline.
There were few surprises. Third baseman Manny Machado, first baseman Mark Trumbo, closer Zach Britton, right-handed starter Chris Tillman, right-handed reliever Brad Brach, right-handed starter Miguel Gonzalez, left-handed reliever Brian Matusz and utility man Ryan Flaherty were all tendered contracts.
Two other players, outfielder Nolan Reimold and right-hander Vance Worley, settled on one-year deals, avoiding the arbitration process.
The Orioles non-tendered two others: outfielder David Lough and shortstop Paul Janish.
For the players who were tendered contracts, salary figures are exchanged in January, and arbitration hearings occur in February. The player and clubs can still agree to terms leading up to the hearings.
