Garcia who was selected by the Houston Astros with the fourth pick in December's Rule 5 draft, then immediately traded to the Orioles. He has thrown three scoreless innings, allowing three hits with three strikeouts and two walks.
As a Rule 5 pick, Garcia must remain on the major league roster all season or else he must be offered back to his original team, the Boston Red Sox.
Garcia, who drew the Orioles' attention with an impressive mid-90s fastball pitching for the Red Sox in instructional league, is trying to make the big league club as a right-handed reliever.
He said he's not worried about falling behind because of the injury.
"I'm trying not to worry about that," Garcia said, "just trying to make it not last longer than what it is."
