KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Henry Urrutia will make his second major league start tonight, hitting eighth as the Orioles' designated hitter against the Kansas City Royals.
Both of the left-handed Urrutia's starts have come against right-handed starters. Right-hander Wade Davis is pitching for the Royals tonight.
Orioles manager Buck Showalter said this weekend that Urrutia showed in the minors that he can hit left-handed pitching. His first big-league hit -- a bases-loaded RBI single in Saturday's 7-4 win over Texas -- came against left-handed reliever Joseph Ortiz.
Orioles right fielder Nick Markakis (.381, 32-for-84) has the highest batting average against the AL Central this year among hitters with at least 75 plate apperances ahead of the Angles' Mike Trout (.371) and Boston's David Ortiz (.354).
Right-hander Scott Feldman will make his fourth Orioles start tonight. He is 3-2 with a 3.24 ERA in 14 career appaearance (seven starts) against the Royals.
