First baseman Chris Davis, who was the designated hitter Wednesday, sat out Thursday's game with a sore right foot. Showalter said he is day-to-day. "[We will] see how he feels in the morning," Showalter said. "He did tell me in the eighth or ninth inning that this sitting stuff, he didn't like it too much." … Second baseman Jonathan Schoop's third-inning throwing error Thursday was the Orioles' 51st of the season, the fewest in the majors. … Left-handed reliever T.J. McFarland left the team this morning to attend to a family situation back home in suburban Chicago. He was expected to return in time for tonight's game, but Showalter said he planned to play without McFarland. … The Orioles still haven't decided whether right-hander Chris Tillman will start in Sunday's season finale. The Red Sox are still fighting for the American League's top record and No. 1 playoff seed, and Showalter said he's weighed the possible importance of that game. Meanwhile, Tillman said he will go through his normal routine as if he's starting Sunday. Another factor is whether right-hander Jason Hammel can come back on three days' rest. He closed out Wednesday's win with 2 1/3 relief innings.
