Orioles release left-hander Chris Jones; lineups for Grapefruit League opener vs. Rays

SARASOTA, Fla. – The Orioles have released left-handed reliever Chris Jones, who was designated for assignment on Monday to make roster space for Nelson Cruz.

Jones, who was acquired from the Atlanta Braves in April in exchange for Luis Ayala, was added to the 40-man roster in November to protect him from being taken in the Rule 5 draft.

Jones was 4-4 with a 2.67 ERA in 70 2/3 innings last season at Triple-A Norfolk and held left-handed hitters to a .196 ERA.

Here are the starting lineups for today's Grapefruit League opener against the Tampa Bay Rays at Charlotte Sports Park.
