O's reinstate RHP Eric Beaulac from DL, outright him to Triple-A Norfolk in clerical move

The Orioles have reinstated right-hander Eric Beaulac from the 15-day disabled list and outrighted him to Triple-A Norfolk. The move is purely clerical.

The major league club selected Beaulac's contract from Double-A Bowie on Sept. 1 and immediately placed him on the 15-day disabled list in a move that would have created an extra injury replacement spot for a postseason roster.

In creating their 25-man rosters for the postseason, clubs could use DL spots to add players not on the major league roster by Sept. 1. So they could have two extra spots with Beaulac and Nolan Reimold on the DL at that time.

The move creates an open spot on the Orioles' 40-man roster.

Beaulac was out for the season with a torn labrum in his right hip. The 26-year-old was 1-0 with an 1.96 ERA in 18 1/3 innings between Class-A Frederick and Double-A Bowie in 2013 before the injury.
