Orioles pregame notes on Strop, Teagarden, Britton and Dickerson

Right-hander Pedro Strop's lower back strain is improving and he has thrown two bullpen sessions. He will now throw one more bullpen session Saturday, then likely in a simulated game or go on a minor league rehab assignment Monday.

Strop could also join the team on the road and work out in Sarasota, Fla., since the team is traveling to Tampa Bay next weekend.

Catcher Taylor Teagarden is in the starting lineup at Triple-A Norfolk, catching and batting third. He's expected to catch nine innings and then catch again tomorrow.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter said he currently plans for the rotation to stay in order for next week's trip to Houston following Monday's off day, but he said that could change.

Showalter said left-hander Zach Britton "was crisp" in his start at Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday night. Britton allowed two earned runs and three hits over five innings with five strikeouts and two walks while allowing a home run. He threw 86 pitches, 51 of them strikes.

Chris Dickerson is making his first start since May 23, hitting eighth in the designated hitter spot tonight against the Detroit Tigers. Dickerson had been dealing with a sore wrist and was a DL possibility before Strop was placed on the DL Saturday in Toronto, but now he is fine.
