TAMPA -- Shortstop J.J. Hardy will have an MRA performed on his left shoulder on Monday, manager Buck Showalter said before today's game.
The Orioles expect to have a better grasp of the injury after that test, even know the Orioles know the MRA won't be a clean one. Hardy missed most of the 2004 season in the minor leagues with Milwaukee with a left shoulder dislocation, multiple tears in his labrum and recovery from surgery to repair those injuries in May of that year.
Hardy injured the shoulder while diving for a hit up the middle in Friday's rain-canceled game against the Tampa Bay Rays at Ed Smith Stadium.
-- Showalter also said that minor league right-hander Zach Davies will start Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Rays. Left-hander Wei-Yin Chen will pitch in a minor league game, indicating that Chen will likely start during the team's season-opening series in Tampa Bay.
-- Both outfielder David Lough (back spasm) and catcher J.P Arencibia (lower flexor mass) are expected to play in one of the Orioles' two split-squad games tomorrow.
-- Right-hander Miguel Gonzalez will start Sunday's home split-squad game against the Twins at Ed Smith Stadium, while RHP Ubaldo Jimenez will start the road split-squad game against the Blue Jays in Dunedin. All six of Jimenez's spring starts have been on the road.
