Orioles option Henry Urrutia to Triple-A Norfolk

The Orioles optioned outfielder and designated hitter Henry Urrutia to Triple-A Norfolk following Friday night's 6-3 loss to the Colorado Rockies. Manager Buck Showalter said after the game the Orioles will probably bring up a bullpen arm because of right-hander Francisco Rodriguez's strained right groin.

Urrutia had a .269/.269/.308 slash line and two RBIs in 21 games. The Cuban defector had only one extra-base hit — a triple in his sixth game at Kansas City — and no walks to go with nine strikeouts.

He went 0-for-3 in Friday's loss. Urrutia's made 10 starts at designated hitter this season while pinch-hitting 10 times for the Orioles. He appeared once as a defensive replacement in left field late in the Orioles' 11-0 loss to Houston on July 31.
