BOSTON — The Orioles open their seven-game road trip to Boston and Toronto with a 7:10 p.m. first pitch Friday night against the Red Sox at Fenway Park.
This will be the Orioles' first meeting of the season with the Red Sox. They will play a four-game series here, including Monday's 11 a.m. Patriot's Day game. They will also host the Red Sox for a three-game series on April 24-26 when the Orioles return from the road.
The Orioles won last year's season series with the Red Sox, 11-8. That included a 7-3 record at Fenway Park. The last time the Orioles played here, they swept a three-game series Sept. 8-10.
The Orioles have also won eight of their past 10 series at Fenway Park dating back to September 2011. That includes a four-game split last April. Over that time, they are 22-10 in Boston.
Right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez, who is coming off seven shutout innings in his regular-season debut, hasn't fared well against the Red Sox. He is 1-3 with a 9.37 ERA in eight career starts against Boston. In three career starts at Fenway Park, Jimenez is 0-1 with a 9.45 ERA.
