What to watch

1. Need a win: Having sunk to third place and down five to the Red Sox in the American League East, the Orioles are moving dangerously close to being out of the division race. Going in to the week, the Orioles' worst-case scenario to end this four-game series with a realistic chance at catching Boston was to split, and now that's their best-case scenario. The Orioles enter the night holding the second wild card, one game behind the Toronto Blue Jays and leading the Detroit Tigers by 1 1/2 games. The Houston Astros are two games back and the Seattle Mariners are three back.

2. Ubaldo watch: Can Ubaldo Jimenez keep his strong stretch going tonight against the Red Sox? Jimenez looked like he might've been on his way to a rough outing his last turn, but recovered to allow four runs in seven innings. He has a 3.28 ERA in five starts since rejoining the rotation.

3. Wake-up call: The Orioles offense is perhaps the main culprit for the club losing three of four. The Orioles have scored two runs in each of those four games, and are batting .198/.226/.325 during that stretch. It will be worth watching to see if the Birds bats can wake up before Boston leaves town with an insurmountable division lead.
