Orioles on deck: What to watch Tuesday at Athletics

Orioles (63-48) vs. Athletics (49-63)

Where: Oakland Coliseum

First pitch: 10:05 p.m.

TV/Radio: MASN2/105.7 The Fan

Starting pitchers: Orioles LHP Wade Miley (7-9, 5.08 ERA) vs. Athletics RHP Zach Neal (1-1, 5.25 ERA)

What to watch

1. Wade Miley, Take 2: Wade Miley's first start with the Orioles ended with him smarting from a line drive off his left calf after allowing four runs in five innings. Now the left-hander gets another crack at improving on his early impression with the Orioles. The trade-deadline acquisition from the Seattle Mariners made 19 starts pitching in the American League West this season, but none against the Athletics. Can he improve upon his Orioles debut tonight in Oakland?

2. Extra extra: The Orioles were held to one extra-base hit out of their seven total hits Monday night, one day after hitting five home runs. It was their first time with just one extra-base hit since Aug. 3 and their third time with that few in their past 17 games. Will they get back to mashing the ball tonight?

3. Macho Machado man: Manny Machado has been on fire since seeing his batting average drop to .301 on Aug. 4, its lowest point since the second game of the season. Over the past four games, Machado is hitting .444/.421/1.167 with four homers (all over the past two games) and 11 RBIs. Can he maintain that pace to help the Orioles even the series in Oakland?
