Starting pitchers: Orioles RHP Ubaldo Jimenez (1-2, 6.71 ERA) vs. Cardinals RHP Lance Lynn (5-3, 2.69 ERA)

What to watch

1. Ubaldo's back. The Orioles have put Ubaldo Jimenez back in the rotation, as having him in the bullpen caused more harm than help. The question is whether he can respond to a bullpen assignment the way he has previously during his time with the Orioles. He has come back from such demotions as a stronger starter twice before, only to regress. The hope is Jimenez shows that improvement starting today.

2. Busting outThe Orioles offense hasn't strung together big games since its last consecutive wins, from June 6-7. But after Saturday's 15-7 win, the Orioles have scored in double digits twice in four games. The offense does seem to be slowly emerging again, and Jonathan Schoop was again at the center of it. He's having quite a month, batting .350/.418/.733 with five doubles, six homers and 16 RBIs in 16 games.

3. Not much relief. Buck Showalter was forced to use four relievers to get through Saturday's win, after another start of less than six innings. Two of those relievers were Mychal Givens and Brad Brach, pitchers Showalter would've rather not used in a blowout. Brach could probably go again today if the Orioles are in position to win, but how they'd bridge to him is the bigger question.
