Orioles on deck: What to watch Sunday at Giants

Orioles (65-51) vs. Giants (66-50)

Where: AT&T Park

First pitch: 4:05 p.m.

TV/Radio: MASN2/105.7 The Fan

Starting pitchers: Orioles LHP Wade Miley (7-10, 4.98 ERA) vs. Giants RHP Johnny Cueto (13-3, 2.93 ERA)

What to watch

1. Miley's turn: The Orioles put together a streak of seven straight quality starts before Dylan Bundy and Kevin Gausman failed to reach the six-inning, three-earned-run threshold in each of the first two games of this series. Wade Miley had a solid second start with the Orioles. Can he get the rotation heading back in the right direction this afternoon?

2. Alvarez update: With Pedro Alvarez set to play today against right-hander Johnny Cueto, it's worth another peek at his excellent numbers since June 1: .302/.331/.644 with six doubles, 15 homers and 31 RBIs in 149 at-bats. That's a home run every 9.9 at-bats, which would be a 50-homer pace if stretched out to a typical full season (about 500 at-bats). Can Alvarez keep this up?

3. Road wrap: The Orioles head into their final West Coast game of the regular season looking to finish this 10-game, three-city trip with a 5-5 record. They also are back to second place, a half-game behind the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League East. Can they end the long trek on the right foot and come home back on top of the division?
