Orioles on deck: What to watch Saturday vs. Yankees

Orioles (73-61) vs. Yankees (69-64)

Where: Camden Yards

First pitch: 7:05 p.m.

TV/Radio: MASN/105.7 The Fan

Starting pitchers: Orioles RHP Kevin Gausman (6-10, 3.73 ERA) vs. Yankees LHP CC Sabathia (8-11, 4.31 ERA)

What to watch

1. Getting closer: The Orioles' win Friday coupled with the Toronto Blue Jays' loss pulled them back to within three games of first place in the American League East. It also held the surging Detroit Tigers at bay, maintaining a tie for the second wild card after Detroit won its fourth straight. Can the Orioles manage to gain more ground and get some separation from the Tigers?

2. Kevin Gausman: Gausman provided the Orioles with one of the best starts of his career his last time out: nine strikeouts and no walks in seven scoreless innings, also against the Yankees. Gausman has now won each of his past three starts and has pitched 13 scoreless innings over his past two outings. Has Gausman begun to truly figure it out?

3. Power hour: The Orioles' power did not let up a drop Friday as they played their first game of September. They crushed four home runs and have hit an astonishing 36 in their past 15 games. With a lefty on the hill, can they keep that going to push the team to another victory?
