What to watch
1. Chance to clinch: The Orioles have a chance to clinch a playoff berth tonight with a win over the Yankees, and some help. If the Orioles win and the Detroit Tigers lose, the Orioles are in the wild-card game. If the Orioles win, the Tigers lose and the Toronto Blue Jays lose, the Orioles secure home-field advantage in the wild-card game. If the Orioles win and get no help, or lose and the Tigers lose, they will be assured of their season extending beyond 162 games -- either in the playoffs or in a tiebreaker.
2. Miley encore: After all of his struggles to start his time with the Orioles, Wade Miley came through for an 8 2/3-inning start that made it easier to forget what transpired beforehand. The question is whether Miley can do it again, or at the very least provide a solid start on a day the Orioles have a chance to get into the postseason.
3. Nearly same lineup: One night after the Orioles scored eight runs, their most since Sept. 10, Buck Showalter is going with pretty much the same batting order -- only elevating Jonathan Schoop to seventh and Michael Bourn to eighth while lowering J.J. Hardy to ninth. Could the Orioles finally be on the cusp of an offensive breakout amid this stretch of six wins in seven games? It will be worth watching to find out.
