What to watch
1. Still searching. Yes, the Orioles won an entertaining, well-played game Thursday night. But again, they scored only one run. The Orioles have been held to one or zero runs six times in their past 11 games, and three times in their past four games. Will they break out against the struggling A's?
2. On the Hill. Mike Wright is scheduled to face former Orioles left-hander Rich Hill in the series opener Friday night. Hill, 36, resuscitated his career with four strong starts down the stretch last season with the Boston Red Sox. He earned a one-year, $6 million contract from the A's off those four starts, his only ones in the majors in 2015, and has rewarded the organization for its faith in him. Hill is 3-3 with a 2.53 ERA in six starts and has a 1.42 ERA over his past three outings. Ubaldo Jimenez then faces Jesse Hahn in the nightcap. Hahn pitched 6 2/3 scoreless innings in his season debut. Can the Orioles slow the success of the A's hurlers?
3. Trumbo seeks reversal. Mark Trumbo has seen a lot of the Athletics in a career that includes stops with the Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners, but he has always had trouble with them. He has hit .198/.246/.348 with nine homers and 29 RBIs against the A's, the team he has faced the second-most times in his career (63 games, 227 at-bats). Can Trumbo and his hot bat buck that trend this weekend?
