Orioles recall Mike Wright
The Orioles recalled right-hander Mike Wright from Triple-A Norfolk on Friday afternoon to fill the open spot on their 25-man roster.
Wright, 26, has gone 3-4 with a 6.12 ERA in 13 games (12 starts) with the Orioles this season. He went 1-0 with a 0.87 ERA and 13 strikeouts in three starts with the Tides this season.
What to watch
1. Welcome back. Get to your seats early because the Orioles will be honoring their 1966 World Series champions starting at 6 p.m. tonight with a 40-minute video tribute and the introduction of 13 of the players from that club immediately after. The 1966 club was the first Orioles team to appear in and win a World Series.
2. Trending up. With two straight wins to end their West Coast swing, the streaky Orioles could potentially be on the way to another positive streak. The Angels bring the third-most losses in the American League to town for the final series before the All-Star break. However, the Angels have been heating up, winning three in a row since a stretch of 12 losses in 14 games. Which of the two clubs will be able to keep it going this weekend?
3. Home sweet home. The Orioles return home from a nine-game road trip still leading the majors with 31 home wins. This weekend's three home games are the Orioles' only ones until July 22, as they come out of the All-Star break with a seven-game road trip to face the Tampa Bay Rays and New York Yankees. Will the Orioles add to their home win total against the Angels?
