Orioles on deck: What to watch Friday at Mariners

Orioles (47-31) vs. Seattle Mariners (40-39)

Where: Safeco Field

First pitch: 10:10 p.m.

TV/Radio: MASN2/105.7 The Fan

Starting pitchers: Orioles RHP Kevin Gausman (1-5, 3.93 ERA) vs. Mariners LHP Wade LeBlanc (0-0, 0.00 ERA)

What to watch

1. Encore. Kevin Gausman needed 13 starts to notch his first win of the season, but he got it in spectacular fashion with 7 2/3 scoreless four-hit innings Saturday. The Orioles need that to be more the norm for the 25-year-old with so many questions regarding their rotation. Can Gausman follow one of the best starts of his career with another like it?

2. Restart the clock. After a terrific June in which the Orioles offense led the club to a 19-9 record, the calendar flips to July and talk about last month can be put to bed. As the Orioles begin their final month before the nonwaiver trade deadline, can they stay hot and continue to put up the gaudy numbers that got them to July with a five-game division lead?

3. Trumbo rebound. After an up-and-down month, Mark Trumbo has begun to heat up with hits in five straight games, his longest hitting streak since May 25-29. Trumbo is hitting .348/.348/.696 with two doubles, two homers and eight RBIs over his past five games. Will he keep it going tonight in Seattle?
