Orioles on deck: What to watch Friday at Angels

Orioles (24-15) vs. Los Angeles Angels (19-22)

Where: Angel Stadium of Anaheim

First pitch: 10:05 p.m.

TV/Radio: MASN2/105.7 The Fan

Starting pitchers: Orioles RHP Mike Wright (2-3, 5.20 ERA) vs. Angels LHP Hector Santiago (3-2, 3.42 ERA)

What to watch

1. On the road again. After playing 17 of their past 19 games at home, the Orioles head out on the road for their longest trip so far this season -- a nine-game, three-city trip that spans three time zones. It starts out west against the Los Angeles Angels, who have struggled at home to an 8-12 record. The Orioles have the best home record in the American League, but are 7-7 away from Camden Yards. Facing a struggling foe, can the Birds find their road legs in Anaheim?

2. Eat your Wieties. Matt Wieters appeared in just 21 of the Orioles' first 31 games before playing in five straight games before sitting Thursday. With the increased playing time, Wieters' bat has heated up a bit. Over his past six games, Wieters is batting .421/.421/.842 with two doubles, two homers and five RBIs. Can Wieters stay hot on the road?

3. Mighty Wright. Mike Wright's most recent start was his best since he started his major league career with 14 1/3 scoreless innings in 2015. He held the Detroit Tigers to two runs on three hits in seven innings Saturday. Wright's gem of a big league debut (7 1/3 scoreless innings last season) came against his foe tonight. Can he string together quality starts and get the best of the Angels once again?
