What to watch

1. Rickard returns. The Orioles activated outfielder Joey Rickard from the disabled list before Friday's game and immediately put him to work, slotting him in the leadoff spot and playing him in left field. Rickard hasn't played since spraining his finger on April 8. He has no hits in six at-bats this season.

2. What's up with Gausman. Could this be the night Kevin Gausman begins to turn things around after a poor start? He enters tonight with one quality start in five outings and a 7.50 ERA. Over his past two starts, he has allowed 13 runs in eight innings.

3. Big series. The Orioles are down to their second-last series during a stretch of 24 of their first 27 games coming against the American League East. They have passed the test so far, sitting alone or tied for first every day of the season, going 14-6 overall and 12-5 against the division. The Orioles took two of three from the Yankees the first weekend of the season, but the only loss came the day tonight's starter, CC Sabathia, was on the hill.
