Orioles make three more minor league signings

The Orioles added three more minor league free agents to the organization Friday, announcing the signings of infielder Paul Janish, right-hander Terry Doyle and outfielder Quincy Latimore.

Janish also will receive an invitation to major league spring training. Doyle and Latimore are expected to report to minor league camp.

Janish, who played in 431 major league games from 2008 to 2013 with the Cincinnati Reds and Atlanta Braves, spent last season in Triple-A in the Colorado Rockies and Kansas City Royals' organizations. He hit .268/.323/.359 between the two organizations, including a .314/.375/.438 clip in 46 games with Kansas City’s Triple-A club in Omaha, Neb.

Janish, 32, is a career .214/.284/.288 major league hitter. He can play second, third and shortstop, but saw most of his major league playing time at shortstop. The Orioles have been focusing on upgrading the shortstop position at Triple-A this offseason, and signed former Boston Red Sox second-round pick Derrik Gibson this week to help fill that spot at well.

Doyle is a seven-year minor league veteran who has spent the majority of the last three seasons at the Triple-A level. Doyle, 29, most recently went 4-4 with a 2.93 ERA in 23 games (seven starts) pitching for the Braves' Triple-A team in Gwinnett, Ga. He was 9-8 with a 4.05 ERA overall in 2014, which included stints with the Double-A teams of the Braves and Chicago White Sox. The 29-year-old posted a 2.81 ERA in 28 2/3 innings as a reliever last season.

Latimore, 25, spent last season with the Washington Nationals' Double-A club, hitting .277/.354/.432 with 11 homers, 41 RBIs and a career-high 14 stolen bases in 108 games. A former fourth-round pick by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2007, he’s spent most of the last four seasons at the Double-A level and hasn’t played any higher. He is primarily a left fielder but has also played the other two outfield spots in the minors.
