The Orioles had a chance to sweep their first three-game series in the Bronx since 1986, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen this afternoon against the Yankees.
The more pressing concern is Orioles left hander Zach Britton, who last just 2 2/3 innings today and allowed seven runs on seven hits.
The seven earned runs allowed tie a career high for Britton and are the most since he allowed seven on July 8, 2011 in a 10-3 loss to the Red Sox in at Fenway Park. He lasted just 2/3 inning that start.
The Orioles now trail the Yankees 11-1 -- with steady rain coming down -- in the fifth inning after Kevin Gregg yielded a grand slam to cap the Yankees' seven-run third inning.
Britton has now allowed 13 earned runs in his last two starts spanning 8 1/3 innings. He allowed six runs in 5 2/3 at home against Oakland on Friday.
