As expected, the Orioles' one-year, $5.75 million deal Pedro Alvarez was made official Thursday morning, the team announced.

Alvarez will be introduced to the media today at noon. He's expected to participate in his first workout this morning.

To make 40-man roster space, the Orioles released right-hander Andrew Triggs. Because Triggs was added to the 40-man roster this offseason, the team couldn't designate him for assignment. However, the team could re-sign him.
