Orioles banking on Chris Tillman to break them out of another losing streak

TORONTO — The Orioles are in the midst of another ugly losing streak and it's up to right-hander Chris Tillman to break them out of it again.

They will enter Sunday's series finale at Rogers Centre losers of five straight games, tying the team's longest losing streak of the season.

And Tillman is the Orioles' best chance of preventing that streak from reaching six.

Tillman ended the team's four-game losing streak by winning a series finale at Yankee Stadium on July 21 and he was the winning pitcher July 5 when the Orioles broke their season-long five-game losing streak on the West Coast, against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

He also won the June 14 series opener in Boston after the Blue Jays took the last three games of a four-game series in Toronto.

Seven of Tillman's 14 wins have come after a loss. The Orioles are 18-4 in games Tillman starts.

The Orioles rotation hasn't fared well this season at Rogers Centre. The Orioles have lost five of six there and the starters own a 9.85 ERA. They've posted just one quality start over those six games.
