Orioles starters make road trip to face Pirates in Bradenton

SARASOTA, Fla. – For the first time this spring, Orioles starters Adam Jones, Chris Davis, Manny Machado and Steve Pearce will make a road trip this afternoon at the O's travel north to Bradenton to play the Pirates at McKechnie Field.

Wei-Yin Chen will make his third spring start. He's thrown five scoreless innings, allowing just two hits, in two Grapefruit League starts.

That's not all. The Orioles and Pirates will play a B game on the Ed Smith Stadium main field starting at 10 a.m. today. The Pirates brought a group that includes left-hander Francisco Liriano, who will start, as well as third baseman Pedro Alvarez and South Korean shortstop Jung Ho Kang.

A couple of injury notes:

Right-hander Ryan Webb (left knee) had done some light throwing the past two days and he's slated to throw a bullpen today. He's expected to get back into a game this week.

Infielder Paul Janish will DH in today's B game after playing his first game on Saturday – also as DH –in a minor league exhibition against the Puerto Rico developmental team. Janish, who had bone chips removed from his elbow four weeks ago, said he will do some throwing across the diamond, the last step before he can play in Grapefruit League games. His throwing program was at 90 feet until yesterday, when he extended it to 120 feet.
