NEW YORK -- Here are some quotes after the American League's 3-0 victory over the National League in the All-Star Game at Citi Field.

Detroit manager Jim Leyland on Rivera: "I said to the players before the game, I said I'm not a motivational speaker but my motivation for tonight is to work our fannies off and bring in the greatest closer of all time."

J.J. Hardy on breaking up a double play to score Adam Jones and what Jones and Chris Davis said to him when they met him after the inning: "They were talking about my speed. How quick I got down the line. No, it was cool. This whole experience has been awesome. It's just that much more special that I was able to share it with my teammates. Lot of fun."

Jones on sharing that moment with Hardy and Davis: "It just happened. And it was pretty cool. That's the cool thing about having multiple people here. You get to enjoy moments like that."

Davis on that moment: "It was one of those weird moments in baseball, and it's something you really can appreciate as a fan and a player."

Davis on the All-Star experience: "The last 48 hours have been a whirlwind and it's been one of the most incredible experiences I've ever been through."

Davis on the four Orioles' overall play in the game: "I thought we represented Baltimore well. I think that was something we wanted to do, come out here and show what we have been doing in Baltimore all year. And I was happy with the way the guys played."

Davis on the AL winning the home field advantage for the World Series: "It's huge. Ever since they started putting the stakes on this game, it obviously made it mean a lot more to everybody. And the fact that we got a win, and with Mo [Rivera] going out on top, that's the way we all wanted it."
