The Orioles agreed to terms with outfielder Steve Pearce, agreeing to a one-year, $850,000 contract, avoiding arbitration in his second year of arbitration eligibility, according to an industry source.
Pearce's deal includes some performance bonus incentives. Pearce, 30, made $700,000 last year in his first year of arbitration eligibility.
Pearce hit .261/.362/.420 with four homers and 13 RBIs in 139 plate appearances this past season.
He had two stints on the disabled list with wrist injuries that affected his swing. Pearce began the season hitless in his first 17 at-bats, but he hit .316/.458/.500 in 16 games after the All-Star break.
Pearce earned one of the club's final roster spots in spring training and played primarily as a right-handed left fielder and designated hitter. He hit .267/.375/.427 against left-handed pitching.
Earlier Monday, the Orioles also agreed to terms with outfielder Nolan Reimold on a one-year, $1.025 million deal, also avoiding arbitration.
Reimold, who played in just 40 games last season because of a spine/neck injury that required surgery in July, made $1 million in 2013.
The Orioles are expected to tender contracts to their other seven arbitration-eligible players before tonight's midnight deadline, but could also make an 11th-hour trade.
