The Orioles have agreed to terms with left-handed reliever Wesley Wright on a one-year deal, pending a physical, according to an industry source.
Wright, who will turn 30 in January, was nontendered by the Chicago Cubs earlier this month after going 0-3 with a 3.17 ERA in 48 1/3 innings in 2014. He made $1.425 million last season.
Wright has held left-handed hitters to a .238 batting average in his seven-year career. Last season, left-handed hitters batted .273 against him, with right-handers hitting .255.
Wright has averaged 8.7 strikeouts per nine innings in his career, but he also has averaged 4.0 walks per nine innings.
Orioles executive vice president Dan Duquette has said one of the team's top priorities is adding bullpen help, and the club needs to replace left-handed reliever Andrew Miller.
Brian Matusz served as the Orioles' left-handed situational reliever for the last two seasons. The Orioles were listening to offers on Matusz during last week's winter meetings, but they were not actively shopping him at the time.
The agreement between the Orioles and Wright was first reported by MASNSports.com.
