SARASOTA, FLA. — The Orioles play host to the Toronto Blue Jays at 1:05 p.m. Wednesday at Ed Smith Stadium.

Right-hander Miguel Gonzalez will make his second Grapefruit League start. He pitched two scoreless innings in his last start, striking out two and walking none.

Matt Wieters will be the Orioles' designated hitter for the third straight game. He likely won't play in the next two games against the St. Louis Cardinals in Jupiter and the Blue Jays in Dunedin, but he's expected to catch (but not throw) in two exhibition games on the Ed Smith Stadium back fields -- Saturday against a team of prospects from Puerto Rico and Sunday in a "B" game.

Manager Buck Showalter said that the hope is that Wieters will be able to catch five to seven innings once he's cleared to throw and play in Grapefruit League games. Wieters said there wasn't an exact number of innings he was scheduled to catch in the games over the weekend.
