CHICAGO — CHICAGO -- Second baseman Jonathan Schoop rejoined the Orioles Saturday in Chicago and will likely be activated from the disabled list to start in Sunday's series finale against the White Sox.
Schoop will likely make his first major league start since April 17.
Schoop played 10 games on his minor league rehab assignment at Double-A Bowie and high Class-A Frederick, going 9-for-34 with two doubles, four homers and seven RBIs. He was 1-for-5 with one run and two strikeouts in his final rehab game at high Class-A Frederick on Friday.
He arrived in Chicago just before the Orioles' 3-2 loss to the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field.
The Orioles must make a roster move to add Schoop and could use the upcoming all-star break and Nolan Reimold's pending trip to the paternity list to help reduce the impact.
Reimold is slated to leave the club after Sunday's game and go on the paternity list Monday. Under the paternity list rules, the player the Orioles would add to replace Reimold wouldn't be subject to the 10-day minor-league option window.
The club has just three optionable position players – Ryan Flaherty, Manny Machado and Caleb Joseph.
