Manny Machado took a 99 mph fastball to the ribs Tuesday night, and he may have a suspension coming for charging the mound and punching Royals starter Yordano Ventura, the pitcher who threw it at him.
But a local restaurant decided to reward Machado for his retaliation. Jimmy's Seafood tweeted Tuesday night offering Machado free crab cakes and steamed crabs for life.
For some Orioles fans, revenge was long in the making. The Royals ended the Orioles' season in the 2014 American League Championship series, and the at-bat before he plunked Machado, Ventura just missed the star shortstop with a pitch, prompting Showalter to warn Machado.
Jimmy's Seafood, located in East Baltimore, extended the same offer to Orioles first baseman Chris Davis in the offseason after Davis signed a seven-year, $161 million extension with the team.
The restaurant is also hosting the Ronnie Stanley Crab Feast on June 17 for Stanley — the Ravens' first-round draft pick this season — as well as teammates and guests.
