After Monday night's win over the Toronto Blue Jays, the Orioles are one win away from clinching their first American League East division championship since 1997.

They'll get their first chance at the title tonight, when Orioles right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez starts against Blue Jays right-hander Drew Hutchison. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.

How does this year's team stack up through 150 games against successful Orioles teams of the past? With a 90-60 record, the Orioles are 12 1/2 games ahead of the Blue Jays in the division.

Here's how the Orioles fared in previous seasons when they made the playoffs.

Interesting game

On Sept. 21, 1971, the Orioles won their third of 11 straight games to end the regular season. The club also won its first five games in the playoffs -- a three-game sweep over the Oakland A's in the American League Championship Series and the first two games against the Pittsburgh Pirates in the World Series. But the Orioles lost four of their final five games as the Pirates won the championship in seven games. In the Sept. 21 game, left-hander Dave McNally pitched a five-hit shutout for his 20th victory of the season as the Orioles beat the New York Yankees, 5-0.
